Yes, there is such a thing and it comes in many flavors, but you need some of these qualities if you are going to be a success in launching a business.
You need to be confident: this doesn’t mean arrogant, it means sure of what you want and who you are (but always willing to listen, someone may have a great idea for you).
You need to be a self starter. If you don’t wake up in the morning full of fresh ideas and eager to try them out, you probably belong working for an organization where you will be guided as to what to do that day.
You need to be optimistic and have a tolerance for disappointment. Not everything will go
your way, there will be times when it seems as though the world is conspiring to stop you succeeding. And on those days you have to be able to blow through it, promising yourself tomorrow will be better.
You need to have a business brain, even if you are not gifted with numbers you need to understand the fundamentals of what it takes to create a P&L. It’s your business, not your accountant’s business.
And you need to love being responsible for yourself and what you create. Saying goodbye to a paycheck only makes sense if the alternative seems like the fulfillment of your dreams.
